About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

Osasuna pulled off a surprising 2-1 victory over Real Madrid in their La Liga clash on Saturday, 21 February 2026. The result was unexpected given Real Madrid's status as title contenders, but Osasuna's resilience and tactical discipline shone through. The match began with Real Madrid dominating possession, but Osasuna's defense, led by Sergio Herrera (GAP +1.2%), held firm. The breakthrough came in the 38th minute when Ante Budimir (GAP +2.4%) capitalized on a defensive lapse to put Osasuna ahead. Real Madrid responded in the second half, with Vinícius Júnior (GAP +4.3%) equalizing in the 73rd minute after a well-executed counter-attack. However, Osasuna's persistence paid off in the dying moments of the game. Substitute Raúl García scored the winner in the 90th minute, sending the home fans into raptures. This late goal highlighted Osasuna's strategic use of substitutions, with García making an immediate impact off the bench. Real Madrid's lineup saw several changes, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Gonzalo García, Brahim, and Daniel Ceballos coming on as substitutes. The reasons for these changes were not specified in the available data, but they did not manage to alter the outcome significantly. Osasuna's manager made effective use of his bench, introducing Abel Bretones, Raúl García, Raul Moro, Íñigo Arguibide Goñi, and Iker Muñoz, which ultimately proved decisive. This victory is a significant boost for Osasuna, who have been battling in the mid-table. For Real Madrid, this defeat is a setback in their title aspirations, as they were expected to secure three points against a lower-ranked opponent. The result leaves Real Madrid needing to regroup quickly to maintain their challenge at the top of the table.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
